Chocolate chip starfish can be found in the Philippines and in Indo Pacific origin. Chocolate chip starfish are found in shallow and warm water regions and in the grass beds at the bottom of the water. Chocolate chip starfish are not poisonous. 

The average size of a chocolate chip starfish is about 16 inches in diameter. Their average weight is about 250 grams. The lifespan of a chocolate chip starfish is up to 20 years. Chocolate chip starfish is named like that because they possess dark pointed projections which are arranged regularly along with their disk and arms.

Insects and aquatic animals

Chocolate chip starfish are scavengers which means that they can eat everything which they want. Chocolate chip starfish can eat corals, shellfish, clams, and sponges. These starfishes also eat worms and squids. Chocolate chip starfish also eat mussels and oysters. Chocolate chip starfish also eat fast-moving animals such as hermit crabs. 

Chocolate chip starfish also eat snails and sea anemones. Chocolate chip starfish can feed on small fish.

In captivity, chocolate chip starfish eat organisms like soft corals, sponges, bivalves, snails, sea urchins, smaller starfish, duster worms, bryozoans, and small fish. Also, Chocolate chip starfish will eat generic packaged food, but they mostly prefer chopped squid and shrimp.

Aquatic plants

Chocolate chip starfish can eat algae and detritus. They also eat decaying plant matter. Chocolate chip starfish are able to eat seagrasses, sea urchins, and cucumbers. 

Chocolate chip starfish eat almost all the time. They can eat everything they find. They can eat algae every day but they should also feed with meat once every 1-2 weeks.
