However, it’s not the case with corn snakes. These harmless corn snakes are carnivorous, meaning that they only feed on meat – especially the mice! But their diet doesn’t end with mice; these corn snakes also treat birds, amphibians, and other species as their food. Corn snakes eat at night depending on their mood. Typically, some corn snakes would eat on your scheduled feeding time. However, others can take time after shedding to start eating again. Corn snakes are able to eat chicken eggs, copperheads, mouse, dubia roaches, rats, mice, quail eggs, minnows, frozen mice, boiled eggs, pinkies, and leopard geckos.
Additionally, the typical corn snake can eat gerbil, guinea pig, mealworms, venomus snakes, rattle snakes, live mice, rabbits, and day old chicks. Corn snakes aren’t likely to eat dogs or cats, unless it’s a dog that has died and its body is decaying. However, they will eat other small animals and insects.
Corn snakes don’t eat fruits, plants, vegetables, or flowers. Their bodies can’t recognize or digest them. So, corn snakes won’t eat corn, deer corn, strawberries, and lettuce. It’s not likely that a corn snake will eat its own eggs. In captivity, corn snakes will mainly eat rats and mice. Corn snakes will eat human but only if it’s meat; they also like to eat raw meat. Lastly, corn snakes don’t eat humans, however, they will eat each other.
