Coyotes are a widespread and elusive family of dogs. They are most often found in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. Coyote tracks are always oval-shaped and have sharp nails, but sometimes, they might be round-shaped and have blunt-end nails.

Coyote tracks are long and straight footprints that are smaller in western coyotes. The hind track of coyotes shows no claws marks on it. Coyote tracks usually represent the faster movement of coyotes than other species. The tracks are deep inside the soil due to the alert nature of coyotes. What Coyote Tracks Look Like?

Coyote tracks are 2.5 inches in length and 2 inches in width. They are often bigger than inclusive. The standard shape of coyote tracks is oval, but it sometimes deviates to other shapes, too. They are present in uniform size. The toes of coyotes have tough, aerodynamic, and quadrilateral track nature. The coyote tracks have four claws and toes differentiated into left and right ones by a deeper lead. 

The hind toe of the coyote tracks is smaller than the front toe that causes a smaller back footpad than the front one. As a whole, the coyote tracks are smaller in size. The metacarpal pad of the tracks printed neatly on the soil. All the claws of the track typically splayed inwards. Coyote tracks take many business-like tracks using a straight path. In addition, the coyote track contains a heel pad that has larger impressions. 

The front paw of the coyote track is 21.2 inches long and 2 inches wide. However, the back paw of the coyote track is 21.4’’ inches long and 13.4’’ inches wide. But, these sizes may vary in different coyote tracks present in different regions of the world. Tracks on a hard floor are unable to show any claw print. In other cases, it must be shown some way or the other.
