The diet of grizzly bears is quite interesting. For one, grizzly bears are omnivores; this classification means that they will eat meat, plants, insects, fruits, and vegetables. Even though they love to eat meat or other animals, it’s certainly not the only thing that a grizzly bear will eat. In the wild, grizzly bears will feed on various animals, plants, and fruits. Yes, grizzly bears eat artic foxes, artic hares, beavers, bunnies, badgers, ducks, eagles, fish, grasshoppers, moths, muskrats, and coyotes. Grizzly bears can eat wolves, weasels, meat, hawks, hares, lynx, rabbits, raccoons, owls, otters, salmon, squirrels, skunks, seals, snakes, trout, snowshoe hares, and sheep. There’s more that they will eat as well. Grizzly bears are able to eat  whole salmon, bones, cats, cows, cubs, dogs, cod, pigs, mountain lions, mountain goats, elk, foxes, dead animals, bison, moose, and deer. As you can see, grizzly bears love to eat meat and they will eat various animals both big and small. It’s common for grizzly bears to eat black bears, buffalo, moose, polar bears, pronghorn, horses, and other bears. A grizzly bear won’t always hunt for these animals however, they are opportunistic eaters. In fact, if they don’t have any food and they are very hungry, grizzly bears could end up eating their young.

It’s important that grizzly bears have a balanced diet, so they certainly will eat on vegetables, fruits, and plants from time to time. Grizzly bears will eat apples, grass, honey, huckleberries, lemmings, leaves, carrion, roots, pine trees, seeds, flowers, berries, strawberries, bananas, blackberries, cherries, peaches, corn, mango, oranges and more. Grizzly bears are fully capable of many different types of foods that don’t consist of meat.

A grizzly bear will eat almost anything and that includes humans as well. That’s right grizzly bears can eat humans, however, it’s extremely rare. People do what they can to avoid these bears because they are dangerous. Grizzly bears will feed on mainly meat due to their omnivorous nature.
