Legless lizards can refer to any of the numerous types of lizards that have lost or shortened their limbs to the point where they are no longer useful for locomotion. These lizards can be distinguished from snakes by having eyelids, external ear holes, a lack of broad belly scales, a notched rather than forked tongue, two more-or-less equal lungs, and/or a very long tail (while snakes have a long body and short tail).

Legless lizards eat insects, small animals, and even other lizards. Predators of the species include snakes and other animals.
The lizard will pull their victim beneath the surface to consume it once it has been captured. Termites, insect larvae, small adult insects, beetles, and spiders are among the insects that the lizard enjoys eating.

Legless lizards are carnivores which means they eat meat. Legless lizards don’t eat fruits and vegetables.

As legless lizards do not have jaws that unhinge, so it is limited in the size of prey it can consume. Due to which they can’t prey on giant animals.

Legless lizards browse on leaf litter or sandy soil at the foot of shrubs or just below the surface. Once they’ve caught their meal, the lizard will drag it beneath the water’s surface to consume it.
