Roof rats don’t eat wood, plastic, aluminum, soft metals, they only chew them and damage them to make a path where they can hide. Roof rats don’t eat venomous animals like scorpions. Also, Roof rats don’t eat olives. Roof rats don’t like the smell of naphthalene, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, and mothballs, so they don’t eat them and stay away from them.
