Most, but not all, common household needles now feature two distinct color bands. Needles of different types and sizes are indicated by different color bands on top and bottom of a needle. SCHMETZ Universal, Hemstitch, Double Eye, and Quick Threading needles only have a single color band to identify needle size due to special features.
