Like all other deer, they are also called herbivores. But there are some cases where white-tailed deer have shown some behaviors of omnivores. So, they are not much similar to other deer when we talk about their diet.

What Does White-Tailed Deer Eat Greedily?

White-tailed deer are not so picky when it comes to eating. White-tailed deer can eat almost every kind of plant, herb, and fruit. White-tailed deer can readily eat carrots, tomatoes, tomato plants, poison ivy (it is poisonous, but it is normal for these deer). White-tailed deer will eat grass, apples, acorns, pumpkins, bananas, buckwheat ( they can eat leaves, flowers, and even seeds of buckwheat). Also, White-tailed deer blackberry, blueberry, cacti, cherry trees, hickory, hostas, herbs, tomatoes, nuts, peanuts, raspberries. Additionally, White-tailed deer can eat radishes, raisins, red clover, ragweed, rice, rye, straw, soybeans, sweet potatoes, strawberries, walnut, watermelon, and grapes.

White-tailed deer also eat bread and oats. White-tailed deer also eat ryegrass, pecans, potatoes, okra, oranges, lablab, lettuce, lichen, and hops but not much. It is also seen that white-tailed deer eat insects and meat.

They are specialists in living in cold weather because North America is a cold continent. White-tailed deer usually eat twigs, stems, grasses, other plants, nuts, fruits, and even mushrooms to live their life in winter.

 White tailed deer are one of those animals who don’t bother eating so much. They can eat almost every herb and sometimes meat as well. But usually eat leaves, twigs, fruits and nuts, grass, corn, alfalfa, and even lichens and other fungi in the wild.
