It is important to keep an eye out for tiny gaps where ants can crawl in and out. Sightings of dead ants near your windows can also be a sign that a nest is in the area.

Cracks in basement walls or concrete floors, or basement windows and doors, are how they get into homes. If adequate access is found for movement, they may be able to build their nest under a concrete slab. Ants have learned to adapt their nests to certain weather conditions, such as rain.
