What Is Lip Neutralization? - Kylon Powell

Writer Rachel Davis

Lip neutralization is a simple process that can be done to transform your lip color. It’s done by applying a base on top of the natural lip color and then covering it with lipstick or lip gloss. This gives the lipstick a much more vibrant look and leaves you with an even tone all around your mouth.

If you’ve ever wanted to wear bright red lipstick, but were scared because it made your teeth look dingy or yellow, this step will help! Or maybe you have never worn lipstick at all because every shade looked too dark on your lips? Well, now there’s no need for these problems anymore!

What Is Lip Neutralization?

Lip neutralization is a process in which you remove the natural color of your lips to allow for a lipstick or lip gloss to be put on that isn’t changed by the color or tone underneath it. This can be done by using a neutralizing shade, which is one that matches your skin tone.

How to determine your lip type

Next, you’ll need to determine what type of lip you have. The best way to do this is by looking at your reflection in the mirror. If you look at your lips directly, they should be slightly pink and glossy (unless they’ve been chap-ed up or have some sort of stain on them).

If you have pale skin, though, it may be difficult for you to tell if this is true. To get a better idea about your lip coloration, it’s helpful to use a magnifying mirror or handheld hand mirror.

Use a neutralizing shade

To neutralize your lips, use a neutralizing shade that’s close to your natural lip color. Apply the lip pencil with a lip brush and then blend it into the natural lip color.

This will work well if you’re not looking for an exact match. If you want more precision, use a lip liner to define the shape of your lips before applying the neutralizer.

Conclusion

Lip Neutralization is a simple technique that can be done to make sure your lipstick stays on longer and looks good. It may take some time to get used to but after a few times, you will be able to do it in no time at all.
