The embedded DVD drive provides immediate access to high-performance, 3D graphics that are stored on DVDs. This allows you to admire detailed map views with automatic display of collision warnings – even while driving at high speeds. All this ensures that your route planning is as individual as you are: We take into consideration not only your current location and destination but also your favorite places (Favorite Destination). These may be the restaurants, hotels, or tourist attractions that you use most frequently; meaning no more searching for addresses or complicated search queries before setting off on a trip.

The high-quality Business navigation system also features an innovative Control Display that provides handy information on current traffic conditions. This can be viewed as icons or text depending on your preferences. Using the Control Display, you can select the optimum route for your journey automatically – selecting either short or long routes to avoid heavy traffic. Another advantage of this feature is that it makes full use of the Navigation system’s route planning capacity: The Control Display does not need any additional software maps (e.g. TOP 10), allowing it to start up more quickly and efficiently than other systems, thus cutting down your waiting time at startup significantly. Moreover, important features such as recalculation are performed much faster than ever before.

BMW Professional offers all the same advantages as above, but benefits from certain additional features. The HDD (hard disk drive) offers more than 4 GB of storage space for the entire navigation program. This is sufficient for storing all map data (TOP 10). Data sets are also included on the system CD; this means that no installation CDs need to be distributed with your vehicle – meaning you can avoid unnecessary costs associated with maintenance and software updates.

The professional system has an optional SD card slot that allows you to expand your memory capacity by up to 32 GB (SDHC). You can even incorporate national road maps e.g. TOP 100 Germany or select European countries in SD format into the Professional version’s user interface so as to display the relevant map data directly on your Control Display.
