Who Makes Powermore Engines? - Kylon Powell
Caleb Butler
LCT is the manufacturer of Powermore (Liquid Combustion Technology). Northern-Powerhorse Tool’s engine range is manufactured by the same firm. Regarding the use of horsepower. A 208cc engine produces 6 horsepower. Parts from both Powermore and Powerhorse are compatible. If the engine of your Powermore breaks down. A powerhorse or vice versa is a perfect match. According to what I’ve heard, MTD purchased a stake in LCT.
Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing Aro... Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundI’m not clear if that refers to the entire company or simply the shares. The engines are constructed and manufactured in China. The harbour freight engine, which is built by a Chinese business called lifan, is unrelated to LCT. Engines, scooters, atvs, go-karts, and motorbikes are all made by Lifan. Chongda is just another Honda clone.
If you’re looking for long-term durability and quality control, like a Briggs/Kohler, you might want to look elsewhere. The fact that they originally appeared on MTD products should be enough to explain everything. It will be a decent engine if it is built by the Lifan firm (Original Hongda) like Kohler is now, but with so many Chinese companies bringing Honda clones here currently, it is becoming a needle in a haystack problem.
With most Chinese companies lacking in quality control, clever companies like Champion (Generators) constructed their own factory in China, allowing them to have complete control over every aspect of their goods, which also allows them to sell you every part in/on it, not just the fundamentals for tune-ups.
Today’s militaries simply order a million China engines, slap them on, and sell them to us, with no regard for quality or repair parts. Most companies who do this may be easily identified by contacting them and attempting to obtain internal engine parts such as pistons and rings, as well as a gasket or starter. If you call and actually try to order components, you’ll see what I’m talking about, and you’ll understand who has product control. Instead, they have a sticker that says 15hp on top but is actually 12hp due to a lack of availability.
