Why does my cat guard me?

Writer Sarah Silva

Because they are territorial, cats guard you. Separation anxiety cats are more likely than others to be close to you and protect you. Isolation anxiety cats are more willing to protect you than other cats. Cats can be ferocious in the defense of their owners. In many instances, the guarding might be quite easy. If a cat feels threatened or uncomfortable, it will protect you. Because cats are territorial, it’s instinctual.

Cat loves you

A cat’s guarding of you can be a sign that they love you and care about your well-being. Cats have a proclivity for treating humans like toys. Your cat will guard you as a way to show respect and value to you. They will protect you at all costs. Sometimes, guarding can be accompanied by gentle purring, head bunting, and licking.

Close the Space:

Cats are acutely attentive to their surroundings. They will quickly move to space if they feel uncomfortable. If your cat sees you in a room and feels uncomfortable, they might run to protect you.

Cat is afraid

Cats can be afraid of loud noises, large shadows, and other unexpected twists. Fearful cats will run to you to defend the space. They believe that nothing can stop you. Although it is adorable to see your furry friend doing this, it can also be alarming because your cat may be afraid.

Cat Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is one of the main reasons cats will guard you. It is common for cats to have separation anxiety, particularly if they are kept in their own rooms for extended periods of time. Your cat will run to protect you when you return from work or grocery shopping. Even if it’s just to go to the bathroom, your cat might not like those brief moments of disconnect.

Cats can be very protective. Although it’s great to have cats around, sometimes they end up protecting you without any reason. They won’t let anyone touch you, regardless of whether it’s family or friends.
