Why is my dog trying to dig the floor?

When a dog digs at the floor, he or she is doing so instinctively to make a hole. A softer resting place is created by the scratching and digging of dogs on the floor. Alternatively, the dog may be digging at the floor for fun.

Why do dogs scratch the floor before eating?

Food can be protected from other predators by hiding or burying it. If you’re seeing pawing, it could be an indication that your dog is still burying things. How? While digging and burying aren’t possible because the bowl is inside, pawing is close to a “pretend bury” behavior.
