Why does not bmw have remote start?

Writer Gabriel Cooper

It all comes down to money…BMW does not make a ton of money on the cars, but they make a lot more by selling parts and services. If a car has a remote start, then it will need batteries for the key fob to work. When those batteries stop working, or if you lose one or both of them, you will have to replace them. That is something that BMW can make money on.

If you have a newer BMW, it is likely that it does not have a remote start because the key fob battery is rechargeable. The downside to this is that if the battery dies, you will need to take it to a dealer or an auto shop to get it replaced. That’s something that most people won’t do, but BMW still makes a boatload of money on that.
Mobile service centers are another way that they make money off of their cars. All you have to do is take your car in and they will charge you at least $100 just for looking under the hood. Then they will tell you what’s wrong with it, and after that, you will pay even more money for them to fix it.

BMW’s biggest market is the luxury car buyer. These people like to spend the big bucks on the nice things, but they hate it when they have to deal with something expensive or inconvenient. So, BMW has done everything that they can do make these buyers happy by positioning their cars in a way that minimizes cost and inconvenience.
So, the next time you are wondering why your BMW doesn’t have remote start, just remember that it’s not because they don’t know how to do it or that they don’t want to. It’s because they are doing everything that they can to make sure that you spend as much money as possible on their cars
