Why is my friend so stupid?

Writer Andrew Davis

I’m often amazed at how my pals can’t seem to educate themselves on even the most basic topics. I adore my pals and don’t know what I’d do without them, yet their idiocy baffles me at times. These are dear pals of mine. I’m 24 years old, and everyone I’m talking to is around my age. Those with whom I grew up, went to high school with, worked with, and so on…

Most of my acquaintances, for example, have no idea what the First Amendment is, let alone any other Amendment. Then they want to go political with me or on Facebook, with no reasoning or evidence to support their claims. It’s not just about politics. My friend once inquired as to whether the Hamburger Helper hamburger came in a box. I’m still baffled as to how you think this is a possibility. (Perhaps dehydrated?) If we’re playing a game, I’ll provide explicit directions, which I’ll repeat over and over until I’m upset with myself.

They say they understand, that they have it, and then the next thing you know, they are doing the OPPOSITE. It’s incredible how individuals choose not to use their brains. I’m always having to explain to people what an apostrophe is for. “I’m going to earn a promotion at work soon,” one of my friends says. or “Vask in the sun” or “eSpecially”

This is a Facebook status from one of my friends that I copied and pasted:

“I was thinking it may be a way to have another Great Depression and spiral society downhill, additionally I bet this is also what is leading individuals to freak out and do all these tragedies that are going around” That is the largest mess I’ve ever seen a 24-year-old make. That person, I believe, took some words and phrases from the news and put them together in a sentence to make it appear meaningful. They apparently didn’t go back to look at their work after typing it.
