WILL 6X9 SPEAKERS FIT IN 6X8?

Writer David Wilson

When you look at 6X9 speakers, they look similar to the 6X8 speakers in terms of their physical size and dimensions. But talking in technical terms, 6×8 speakers are slightly smaller as compared to the 6×9 speakers. If you’re looking to upgrade your car’s audio system, you might be wondering if 6×9 speakers will fit in 6×8 speaker holes. Can 6×9 speakers fit in 6×8? This is a question that many car audio enthusiasts have. The answer is not as cut and dry as one might think.

There are a few things to consider when determining if 6×9 speakers will fit in a 6×8 opening. The first is the depth of the speaker. The second is the size of the magnet. And lastly, the speaker’s mounting depth. The depth of the speaker is important because it needs to be able to fit into the door panel or dash. The magnet size is important because it needs to be small enough so that it does not interfere with the window or door mechanism. And finally, the speaker’s mounting depth needs to be shallow enough so that it does not protrude into the cabin too much. The dimensions of the 6×9 speakers are:

2.5″ x 3″ x 7.5″, and they are 30mm deep.

The dimensions of the 6×8 speaker box are:

2″ x 1.75″ x 2″, so they are 35mm deep, which is slightly deeper than the 30mm depth of the 6×9 speaker box (but still not as deep as some other boxes).

6×9 speakers are slightly larger than 6×8 speakers, but they can still be installed in the same size speaker hole. If you’re not sure whether or not your car has 6×8 or 6×9 speaker holes, it’s easy to measure. Just take a look at the existing speakers in your car and measure the width and height of the speaker hole.

Keep in mind that you may need to make some modifications to your car’s interior trim to get the 6×9 speakers to fit properly. You may also need to use adapters or brackets to install the speakers correctly. But overall, installing 6×9 speakers in place of 6×8 speakers is a relatively easy process.

Mounting 6×9 speakers in 6×8 slots might seem an impossible project at first but it can be done with a bit of effort. 6×9 is one of the largest speaker sizes you can buy, and they are ideal for high-power systems. The main argument against mounting 6×9 speakers in place of 6×8 is the labour involved, but it can serve as a great opportunity to bump up the listening experience without breaking the bank. If you run into mounting problems or are unsure about the installation process needs, consider consulting a professional before mounting your car speakers.
