Will an armadillo attack you?

The answer is no, armadillos are not dangerous to people. Armadillos are shy and docile wild creatures. Because these wild animals are geared toward defense, it is rare that they engage in combat. Unless they are cornered, these creatures are unlikely to pose a threat to dogs, humans, or any other animals in the vicinity.

Are armadillos dangerous to touch?

If you live in the southern United States, armadillos may be able to transmit Hansen’s disease to humans because they are naturally infected with the bacteria. There is a small risk, however, and most people who come into contact with armadillos are unlikely to contract Hansen’s disease.
