The appearance of brown recluse spider

A brown recluse has dirt or sandy brown body with a slightly darker marking present at the center of the body, some brown recluse spiders are dark brown and even slightly yellow. Its legs are a lighter brown with no additional markings. If a brown spider has stripes or other pigments on its legs then it’s not a brown recluse spider.

The main food source of brown recluse spiders is small bugs. They also consume insects like cockroaches, beetles, silverfish, firebrats, crickets, and more.

Brown Recluse spiders are rarely fatal to adults because they can cause severe necrosis. Any person who gets bit by a Brown Recluse spider should seek medical attention immediately. The wound of a brown recluse spider can cause a severe infection if not properly treated. 

Methods to keep brown recluse spiders away

Brown recluse spiders are not typically found in houses. If you found any spider in the house you can simply use some essential oil drops or spray to keep them away. Brown recluse spiders don’t like eucalyptus plants or their oil. They also hate the smell of lemongrass, lemon balm, basil, lavender, mint, and rosemary. Growing these plants near doorways and windows helps to keep brown recluse spiders away.
