So, whether painted or papered, walls are no match for bed bugs. What about fabric and wood, though?
Bed bugs can easily pass through cloth. They live in mattresses and bedding for virtually their entire lives. They must pass through the fabric of your sheets to get to you. They’re not only capable of moving through cloth, but they’re also really good at it.
Because of their flat bodies, they can squeeze through even the tiniest holes between sheets and mattress covers. They can easily latch onto cotton, polyester, and other soft materials thanks to their claws. This is how bed bugs get into houses in the first place — they sneak into baggage and clothing and catch a ride.
What about wood, though? Bed bugs, unfortunately, will not be deterred by cloth. You might be wondering how they scaled wood (particularly varnished or lacquered wood) because it feels so smooth.
However, keep in mind that your fingers are quite huge in comparison to a bed bug’s tiny claws. On a microscopic level, what feels smooth to you is anything but.
Because wood is a natural substance, it has many tiny ridges and indentations that are difficult to detect. This is exactly how the bed bug gets a hold of you.
This implies that bed bugs may easily scale wooden bed frames, dressers, and other furniture. They may take a while to make it up, but they have nothing else planned for the day.
