Beef, hog, and other animal fat is readily consumed by birds. Beef fat, also known as suet, is the fatty food most commonly fed to backyard birds. Beef kidneys and loins contain some of the best suet. This fat, once rendered, will not go rancid or melt as quickly as other fats in warm weather.

Can birds eat cooked fat?
