When feeding your backyard birds peanuts, there are a few things to keep in mind:. Nuts that have been salted, flavoured, or roasted should never be fed to birds. When exposed to large amounts of salt, birds can become ill or even die.

Is it okay to feed birds salted nuts?

We don’t recommend this. Because this is the reason: There is no evidence to suggest that feeding birds salted peanuts on a regular basis causes harm to birds. Because peanuts contain such a small amount of salt and only make up a small portion of a feeder bird’s daily diet, this is the case.

Can squirrels and birds eat salted peanuts?

Is Salted Peanuts Safe for Squirrels? Avoid giving wildlife salted nuts or any other type of food when you’re feeding them. Squirrels can tolerate a small amount of salt, but their tiny kidneys are unable to remove the vast majority of the salt in salted nuts from their diets.
