Can Cherry Shrimp See In The Dark?

Writer Robert King

Watching their feelers constantly scan the environment, I’d assume they can’t see like we can. In spite of the fact that these creatures have eyes, it is likely that they can only see light and dark and movement, such as a moving shadow. As a result of their lack of complexity in their eyes, they are unlikely to be able to see images like arthropods with complex eyes could.

They do a good job of camouflaging themselves. When it comes to tanks with lots of plants, this is especially true. The shrimp in your tank are happy if they are always on the move and swarm when it’s time to eat. Observing your shrimp at feeding time is the best way to get a good sense of their health and happiness. When it’s time to feed, they won’t care how much algae is in the tank.
