When water is added to fluorite, the crystal is likely to disintegrate because it is water-soluble and soft. Fluorite is a crystal, so when it dissolves, it looks like a scum on the surface of the water. It doesn’t significantly alter the water’s color, but it can make it slightly cloudy.
