Can Hamster Eat Ice? - Kylon Powell

Writer Andrew Davis

You can give your pet an ice cube to play with or put some ice cubes in their water bottle or bowl. Make sure there is always a supply of fresh water available! Pets that can eat small, frozen mixed vegetables should be fed them (e.g. hedgehogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats and others).

Can a hamster have ice?

In response to your question about hamsters and ice: If you can’t keep the room cool, you can put cooled items like mugs, terracotta, or ceramic tiles in the cage, but they should be chilled rather than frozen. Personally, I wouldn’t put ice in the cage.

Can hamsters drink ice water?

Cold water should be avoided. If your hamster’s body temperature is lowered too quickly by cold water, other life-threatening conditions may arise.

Can hamsters drink milk?

Hamsters, like humans, are likely to prefer whole milk, but whole milk is too high in fat for hamsters. The healthier choice is to drink skim milk. Strawberry-flavored milk, for example, should be avoided as well.
