Can I get a massage after acupuncture?

Writer Caleb Butler

Yes, you can get a massage after acupuncture. You are probably feeling tired after yesterday’s acupuncture treatment. Many people don’t know this, but the needles inserted during an acupuncture session are often followed by a massage or other manipulation of the area where the needles were placed. This is to further relax your muscles, help remove blood stagnation which may have formed above the sites where the needles were inserted, and work on the qi-meridians in that area of your body.

I’d be happy to perform a massage after an acupuncture session for anyone who would like one, but I can’t do it right away. The needles have to be left in place for at least 30 minutes after insertion, and then more time is needed for the actual acupuncture treatment. I don’t want to “skip steps” when providing acupuncture treatment, because it can be detrimental and because more problems than you already have. If possible, let the needles sit in your body for at least one hour after insertion before coming in for a massage.

I work on people pretty much every single day of the year, so the messages I provide are quick and effective. You’ll be able to relax, empty your mind of negative thoughts and enjoy my soothing touch as I work on your body.

In summary, you can get a massage after acupuncture if you would like one, but make sure you wait for at least an hour before coming in to see me. However, there’s a lot you are supposed to know. You should as well consult your doctor, and you can go here for more information on acupuncture. If the professionals advise you against it, then you should probably avoid it. So, try this out and you’ll be glad you did! Thank you.
