Third, it has calcium, magnesium, and potassium that would help reduce chances of high blood pressure during pregnancy. Fourth, it also has niacin that can help prevent neural tube defects on the baby’s spine. Lastly, there is a dietary fiber that can improve digestion and reduce constipation for moms-to-be.

On the other hand, Mexican food may not be a wise choice every time because there might be certain risks to expect when you order certain dishes. First, it is made up of carbohydrates which are absorbed by the body quickly. For this reason, there are chances that you will gain too much weight when you eat Mexican food while pregnant. Second, it has monosodium glutamate or MSG which causes severe headaches for some pregnant women. Third, it can trigger some allergies and increase asthma attacks during pregnancy. Fourth, it may also cause heartburn and make digestion more difficult for expecting moms. Lastly, some dishes contain high calories as well as sodium content which might be harmful to the baby’s development.
