Can you eat ravioli cold?

Writer Gabriel Cooper

The ravioli will get very cold – not just cool, but it might even freeze solid. Eating them cold is also pretty slimy and disgusting. I would not recommend you eat them after they’ve been in the fridge for a while.

It’s like eating udon, boba, or natto…

I don’t recommend it. However, I will say that is the best way to eat udon cold! You can definitely microwave udon noodles to make them soft again. If you want to eat it with soft yaki-soba noodles or hot broth and melted cheese on top, then go right ahead!

However, there are some people that usually want to eat ravioli cold in a can or in a box.

In Japan, the ravioli in a can is very popular among young women and children, so I think it’s easier to eat cold than hot. If you microwave them, they will become soft again! I personally don’t recommend eating them when they are cold from being in the fridge for a while.

If you want to eat cold ravioli, maybe it’s better to heat them up first? Though heating them is good, it’s not better than eating them cold at least if you are comfortable with that texture.

But if you want them to be soft again, I recommend microwaving them! It’s also really delicious when it’s been microwaved with melting cheese on top or eaten with hot broth.

In our family, we eat the ravioli that come in a box – just like udon noodles! We sometimes microwave it first then put it in a bowl and then heat it up, but we usually eat them after putting broth or dipping sauce on top.

In Japan, I’ve never heard of people eating hot ravioli. People don’t really want to eat anything that’s been sitting out for a while, so I assume most people would rather have them cold.
