Laminate flooring should not be nailed down. There are times when nails don’t go in the way they’re supposed to, or at the right angle or speed, causing damage to the surface. Laminate finishes can also be damaged if you miss the nail.

Nailing or gluing down laminate flooring to the subfloor will prevent it from expanding and contracting as it is supposed to. Sub-floor fixings will eventually lead to it accumulating damages, which will shorten its lifespan.
Can laminate flooring be stapled?
Laminate flooring is typically installed on top of the underlayment before it is nailed down. The subfloor cannot be attached to the underlayment using any means. However, some installers prefer to fasten the underlayment to the subfloor during installation in order to keep the underlayment in place.
Can you nail down click lock flooring?
Some “click lock” flooring requires the installer to nail through the groove side of the board, rather than the tongue side, in order to secure the floor to the sub-flooring.
