A wet hoverboard can get into the motherboard if it is removed carefully and unplugged for 12-24 hours in a bowl of rice. Your co-boards (e.g. sensor boards, gyroscopes) and your battery are also at risk of overheating.

Are hoverboards waterproof?

Even though hoverboards aren’t completely waterproof, some of them are water-resistant to some degree. A light drizzle may be all that’s needed, while others can handle riding over some small patches of water, but it’s still best to steer clear of water altogether to avoid risking any damage.
