It is common for people to forget to take their dentures out. However, that does not mean that it’s the case with every person who wears them. Some people intentionally leave them in because they don’t know better. If you are one of those individuals who wears their dentures for a long period of time, then there’s some important information that you should know.
Sleeping With Dentures
It’s actually not good to sleep with your dentures in. In fact, you should not sleep with your dentures in for more than 24 hours. This practice can negatively affect your health. It’s also not the best hygiene practice either.
Thrush
People who sleep with dentures all the time can end up with thrush. This will happen in the roof of the persons mouth. It can also leave cracks in the mouth as well.
Gum Disease
The risks of gum disease will increase if you consistently sleep with your dentures in. It’s best to not do that.
Pneumonia
Getting pneumonia is another risk for those who sleep with their dentures in. To avoid that, it’s best to wear your dentures when you go to bed.
Bacteria
A lot of bacteria can build up in your mouth if you don’t take your dentures out. If you fall asleep with them in your mouth, then bacteria will definitely build up in your mouth, which is not a good thing at all. So, it’s best to just not sleep with them in.

It is actually not a good practice to sleep with your dentures in. If you do this, then you run the risk of getting diseases as well as negatively affecting your overall health. These issues may not happen overnight, however, they are more likely to happen if you continue to wear your dentures for more than 24 hours.
