Can You Use Mouthwash With Invisalign?

Writer John Campbell

Invisalign aligners can increase bacterial activity in the mouth, so it is recommended that you use an antimicrobial mouthwash while wearing the aligners. You can put your Invisalign aligners back in your mouth once you’ve cleaned your teeth and your aligners.

Can I rinse with mouthwash while wearing Invisalign?

If you have Invisalign in your mouth, it’s best not to use mouthwash. Mouthwash can leave stains on your trays if it contains colored ingredients (or harsh chemicals that can damage the clear aligners).

What mouthwash is safe for Invisalign?

Use a toothpaste with a low abrasive texture and wash your aligners under running water at least once a day to keep them in good condition. The purple mouthwash, Listerine Total Care Zero, should be used twice a day to strengthen your teeth.

Can I use mouthwash instead of brushing for Invisalign?

A small amount of toothpaste and water or antibacterial soap and water can be used to clean your aligners. To avoid discoloration or deformation, do not immerse them in mouthwash or put them in hot water.

Can I soak my Invisalign in Listerine?

Make sure you don’t soak your Aligners in mouthwash because doing so will make them less noticeable. For Invisalign Aligners, use Retainer Brite instead of Denture Cleaning Solution (which is too abrasive).

Does your breath smell with Invisalign?

There’s a lot of moisture and warmth in the area under and around the braces. In addition to causing bad breath, bacteria can also produce foul odors, which can seep into your aligners and cause them to smell. After brushing your teeth, use mouthwash to clean your teeth.
