It’s best not to walk around with wet socks or carpet. 24 hours is recommended. If you must walk on a wet carpet, wear booties or clean soled shoes. Wet carpet is easily re-soiled by dirty shoes, bare feet, or socks.

When you walk on the carpet right after it has been cleaned, the damp pile of fiber flattens. If it’s left that way, it may dry that way, defeating the purpose of cleaning the carpet in the first place, which is to restore its new and fancy appearance.
