Do Bathroom Vents Get Rid Of Smoke?

Writer Andrew Davis

Smoke odors could be nasty and ubiquitous regardless of where they come from, but the smell of cigarette smoke can indeed be specifically strong and hard to remove from the environment. If the smell of cigarette smoke emanates from your bathroom fan, not all is lost. Depending on the circumstances, you might well be able to eliminate the odour even if someone was smoking in the bathroom with the vents turned on or smoking under the extractor fan.

Due to the fact that they are linked to the kitchen exhaust, bathroom aromas can be exacerbated by problems with the bathroom exhaust fan, as well as lingering cigarette odors. During the combustion process of a cigarette, it emits smoke molecules that are encapsulated in small particles of tar and oil. Because of the sticky layer created by the smoke molecules, the molecules bind to a variety of surfaces, making it difficult to completely eliminate the scent from the region.

Make an effort to direct it towards the open doors or windows in order to make removal easier. Install a box fan in a window to clear out any trapped smoke. To use a fan, place it inside a window so that air is flowing out the window and turn it on. The rotating blades should be able to draw the confined smoke outside into the open air.

It is the purpose of a bathroom fan to draw in air from the bathroom and exhaust it outdoors through ductwork that is installed in the ceiling. A bath fan acts in the same way that a kitchen range hood does, with the exception that it is used to extract moisture rather than smoke from the air.
