These perceptions are not totally wrong, but to some extent, they are true. In-Wall speakers have almost been replaced from the home theater. One of the biggest drawbacks is that the speakers cannot be easily updated or upgrade. The moving of speakers means that you have to dig the holes again in the room. The cost to update or upgrade is more than the cost of speakers.

Now coming towards our main question, whether in-wall speakers need a box or not. This is totally depending upon your speakers. Most of the speakers tend to work better without the box. Well based on reviews, we suggest consulting with the manufactures before making the decision.
