These lights are not dependent on sun rays. The light-emitting diodes of the lamps have a charge that is accumulated with the help of sunlight during the day.

The charge can be recharged with any source of light during night or winter also.

Solar lights, however, work best in the summer season when there is ample sunlight to collect energy.

The lights will function to the maximum potential when it is sunny during summer.

But, in the winter season when sunlight is scarce, you can still get reasonably good performance from these lamps.

If the light output of your solar lamp does not seem effective then consider increasing their exposure to sun rays. You can also try changing their position for this purpose.

For example, if you place them underwater in a pond or brook they will receive more energy because water reflects sunlight like a mirror and intensifies its effect on the solar panels. Another good idea would be to put them in front of windows in your house or room because window panes magnify the sun’s intensity in winter by around 30 percent compared to other times of the year that could further improve the performance of solar lamps.

But if you don’t want to place them in or near water and windows then place them in a spot where they get maximum sunlight throughout the day.

You can also use additional light sources along with solar garden lights during the night because it will ensure that your yard is well lit up at all times.
