Do You Need Glue With Pocket Screws?

Wood glue isn’t necessary for pocket hole joints, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it when putting together your furniture. Pocket screws tighten the two pieces of wood together when driven through an angled pocket hole.

Do I need to use glue with pocket screws?

Make sure you use glue on your joints if you’re using pocket screws when building a dining room table for your forever home. By using the glue, you’ll be able to strengthen your joint and prevent it from coming apart.

Is wood glue necessary with screws?

The wood glue bond has been shown to be stronger than the screw bond, so screws are unnecessary. A continuous bond along the entire face of the wood can be achieved with a glued bond.

Do you glue pocket hole plugs?

Pre-Cut Plugs can be used to fill a pocket hole. Make sure the pocket hole is clean by sanding it with a small piece of sandpaper. Slide the flat side of the plug into the pocket hole with the wood glue applied around it.
