Does Bleach Keep Ants Away?

Writer Gabriel Cooper

Bleach works by penetrating the ant’s exoskeleton and affecting their breathing ability. Using bleach as an ant repellant is yet another use for the bleach. You can also use it to remove scent trails from ant nests, preventing them from returning.

Can bleach repel ants?

Nothing can be more disconcerting than a line of ants tromping through your kitchen or even an entire ant colony emerging in your lawn or garden. If all you have on hand is some bleach, you might be surprised to learn that bleach can, in fact, kill and repel ants.

What smells will keep ants away?

Sprinkle cinnamon, mint, chili pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic in the area where you’ve seen the ants. After that, apply the same principles to the foundation of your home. Placing bay leaves in cabinets, drawers, and containers can also help to deter ants.
