Do chimney balloons really work?
Inserting the plastic Chimney Balloons into the chimney’s throat is as simple as blowing them up. However, while they were easy to use, these widely-used inflatables don’t actually perform well in preventing air leaks and helping you maximise your home heating and cooling!
How do I stop cold air coming down my chimney?
Keep the chilly air from entering the house. Some homeowners add a top-sealing damper to their chimney in addition to the throat damper, which is located just above the firebox. You can also use a chimney balloon or plug to keep out the cold air.
Do chimney balloons cause damp?
That is not the case. Herdwick wool, used to make Chimney Sheep®, is naturally porous, allowing moisture to pass through.
What is a Chimney Balloon used for?
To keep the Chimney Balloon in place, it is designed to inflate and push against the chimney’s four walls. In order for your chimney to “breathe,” there is a small hole in the side of the product.
Do chimney balloons deflate?
If you don’t need it right away, you can deflate it and store it until you do. For many years, the Chimney Balloon can be reused.
Are chimney balloons safe?
The plastic used to construct the Chimney Balloon is incredibly durable. You won’t have any left when the temperature rises. The Chimney Balloon is far safer than other inflatables made of PVC, which expands and emits fumes.
