Small gaps are common around the gas line’s circumference when it enters a fireplace’s manufactured firebox area, usually on the left or right side. A high-temperature caulking or sealant should be used to fill this small gap.

How can I tell if I have a gas leak in my fireplace?

Turn off all of the electrical appliances in your home and listen closely near the fireplace for a hissing sound that could indicate a gas leak. Inspecting the fireplace’s base with a flashlight for signs of debris or dust movement that might indicate a gas line leak is a good idea.

How do you bleed a gas line for a fireplace?

Repeatedly press the igniter button while pressing the valve control knob inward until the pilot light is illuminated. Depending on how quickly the gas flows, this could take anywhere from one minute to ten minutes. For 30 seconds after lighting the pilot, hold down the valve knob firmly in your hand.

How do you fill a hole in a gas pipe?

Drill Each of the two pieces has a hole for a screw. To secure the two halves, screw them to a piece of plywood. Cut a hole the diameter of the pipe in the middle (on the seam). Place both halves on either side of the pipe (covering the mouse hole) and screw it down.
