Soot is easily concealed by plain flat black fireplace paint because it’s an understated, timeless color. Almost any fireplace and room decor will look good with black, as well. A light, airy feel is achieved with beige, off-white, or almond shades.

Can you paint the inside walls of a fireplace?

Preparation for painting the inside of a fireplace requires a lot of elbow grease. If you’re going to use your fireplace, make sure you use paint that can withstand high heat. The majority of these paints can withstand up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Do I need special paint to paint a fireplace?

When painting a fireplace, choose an indoor, latex, heat-resistant paint (flat, semigloss, or gloss) that can withstand temperatures of up to 200°F. Keep in mind that this type of paint is only suitable for the exterior of a brick fireplace, not the interior firebox

A flat, semi-gloss, or gloss paint that can withstand the high temperatures generated by a fireplace (around 250° C / 480° F) should be used for the fireplace’s surrounding walls. If you have a wooden frame or mantel, this is a great paint to use.
