How Do You Keep Spiders Off CCTV Cameras?

Writer Gabriel Cooper

If you have CCTV cameras installed at your home you will be familiar with the spiders and their webs on cameras. They make silk webs on cameras and make everything blur. To stop spiders from making webs on your cameras you must understand why they’re attracted to cameras.

As we know spiders are active hunters and they love to eat insects so they are often found on cameras because of the IR light on cameras as it contains lots of insects around it. Here are some tips that would help you to keep them away from your CCTV cameras.

Tips to keep spiders away

1. Fixing an outdoor illuminator near your camera can help to keep spiders away. Fix the illuminator several inches away from your camera and it is also considered as a long-term solution.

2. Deter insects with essential oils such as citrus oil, peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, mothballs, and other strong scents.

3. Flying insects are attracted to the IR and LED lights in or around your camera lens. Check the CCTV camera’s manual and disable these lights if you can. This will also help to keep spiders away.

4. Cover the camera with a lubricant such as silicon, Vicks, or Vaseline. These lubricants will make your camera surface slippery and spiders won’t be able to make a web there and it will help to keep them away.

5. If you want some natural remedies you can also apply vinegar and other organic bug deterrents. The smell of vinegar will deter spiders from cameras.

6. Use a flea collar near your camera. Flea collars are used to keep fleas and bugs away from dogs but they can also be used to keep spiders far away from your cameras.

7. Use spiders or insects repellent on a daily basis near your camera. I Hope, these tips will help you to keep them away.
