For drivers of BMW vehicles, 10,000 miles or 12 months is the recommended point at which to have your engine oil and oil filter changed. An exception to the rule is for vehicles that travel fewer than 10,000 miles each year.
For those drivers, or if you’ve had the oil in your BMW changed around 5,000 miles within the past six months, you can have it serviced roughly every 4-5 months. If you own a diesel-powered vehicle, however, engine oil should be changed every 7,500 miles.
