Indeed, guinea pigs are not high-maintenance animals, and that’s the exact reason why many people are puzzled about how long they can leave these cute animals alone. For example, dogs know that they need to be taken out for multiple walks every day, or their owners will get mad at them!

It’s easy – we think our pets are more challenging than people-but in reality, it’s best if we take care of these animals the same way other living creatures would expect us to.

The more you leave your guinea pig alone, the bigger they get. And it’s not because of all that hay! It sounds like many people think this way, but I did some research and found out how wrong their assumptions were when left unchecked for too long.

Some people feel very strongly about the length of time a guinea pig should be left alone. One day may not be enough for some, and only experts know how long they can leave their pets before it becomes neglectful or dangerous to do so without tending them regularly.

However, most pet parents find that if you’re going away from home with plans on more than two days, then have someone check in at least every 12-24 hours.

Any longer absence might cause problems such as loneliness which could lead to depression/anxiety issues depending on what type of animal was cared for by this person.

So how long can pet parents leave their guinea pig alone? It depends on the type of pet parenting style that works for your animal, but in general, it’s best to have someone checking up on them at least once every 12-24 hours.

While guinea pig ownership does not require as much attention from their owners as other types of pets such as dogs or cats would have because piggies don’t seem so needy. Nevertheless, you might find yourself neglecting them if given the opportunity without realizing what this lack could mean later on down the line.
