The corn snakes are found throughout the United States, including Texas and Mexico, and can be found from the southern East coast to the western United States. It is also found in Mexico. When it comes to the origin of the name “corn snake,” there are a couple of competing hypotheses. Corn snakes can be found in a various environments, including forests, fields, rocky hillsides, wetlands, farmyards, and other similar terrains. Snake corn can hibernate for 6-8 weeks.

They are at their most active during the evening hours. They can grow to be as long as 6 feet in length, with the average length being about 4 feet. They have the potential to live for up to 20 years or even longer if given the appropriate care. However, despite the fact that these snakes are docile and easy to care for, they make excellent companions for people.

The cage’s temperature should be maintained at a constant range of 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the day. Placing a thermometer at each end of the cage will help to ensure that the temperature remains within the acceptable range. Do not guess or make assumptions about the temperature of the cage. Depending on your climate, you may be able to achieve this temperature range simply by leaving the corn snake cage at room temperature for an extended period of time. When using a heating pad, it is critical to proceed with extreme caution to avoid injury. Direct contact between the snake and the human should be avoided at all costs. Set it to a low setting, and only a portion of the cage, not the entire cage, should be placed under it. In cold weather, the corn snake will hibernate during the fall and winter months, when it is too cold to be outside. If desired and necessary, you can replicate this period in captivity, which is especially important if your goal is to breed your snake in the not-too-distant future.

The snake should not be fed for at least 2-3 weeks prior to the start of its hibernation, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Water should still be readily available during the hibernation period. It is recommended that the temperature be brought down to between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit over the course of one week.
For 6-8 weeks, place them in a hibernation state. Feeding should be avoided during this period. If you feed your snake live food, it will refuse to eat and may end up as dinner.
