How long does it take brick mortar to dry?
Caleb Butler
A man asked his neighbor how long it takes for the brick mortar to dry. The neighbor replied, “I don’t know.” So how long do you think it takes for the brick Mortar to dry? The answer is that it varies. It depends on where you are.
Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing Aro... Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundThe brick mortar will be dry within 8 hours if the temperature is 75 degrees which are quite rare for this part of the country during spring. The time can vary depending on how much humidity, sun, or wind it has received since being applied. If there are shrubs around the bricks it will help to slow down the drying process. In warm weather, it can take a few days or more.
The brick will be ready to use sooner if the bricks have been previously stained and/or sealed, especially if it is raining.
In areas of low humidity such as Florida, brick mortar can dry within an hour in hot weather, and in areas with high humidity such as Louisiana, brick mortar can take days to dry.
The following are some guidelines for hardening time in warm weather:
- 75-degree temperature – within 8 hours if it is completely exposed.
- 60 degrees – 2-3 days in the morning sun and afternoon shade.
- 50 degrees – 3-4 days or more if in full sun all day.
- 40 degrees – 1-2 weeks if in full sun all day.
- 20 degrees – 2-3 weeks or more, unless it is cloudy and/or moist, in which case it can take months to dry or not at all.
In conclusion, you can stop worrying about where the brick mortar has gone. It is a very simple thing to do and that’s what you will hear from me until I die. You just have to make sure the brick mortal is under the right conditions for it to dry as needed.
