How long does it take to put up a fence?
Rachel Davis
One to three days is enough to put up a fence. I moved into a new house that had an old fence. I decided to build a new one. I began by building the posts and digging holes for them. Then, I put up the posts and attached the rails for the fence panels. It was done but not yet secure because it still needed posts and rails at regular intervals to rest on. When those were put up, it seemed as if the fence was done but I had only finished the first row of panels and there were four rows in all. The entire fence took me a month to build and install standards for and rest rails for.

Then I built a frame for the gate to rest on and put it in place. The bottom part made of wood was not yet secure because there were no posts or rails to support it. So I put up those as well. In addition, I could now install the hinge for the gate by digging a hole for it where it could rest securely. When I was done with all of these, I installed the gate. The entire project took two weeks because it was my first time doing this sort of thing. Fences are typically built in one to three days but you can make it take longer if you want to by only completing some parts at a time instead of finishing everything at once.
In conclusion, you cannot take more than 3 days putting up a fence unless you have a really large one or you don’t have the right DIY skills to make it a reality over that small period of time.
