How much fuel does a backpacking stove use?

A 100g canister of stove fuel is usually sufficient for a weekend backpacking trip for one person. The amount of fuel needed to boil one liter of water per person per meal should be factored into this general guideline.

How long does backpacking stove fuel last?

With different heat settings, an 8-ounce canister of fuel should last three hours, says Eastern Slopes. The fuel canister will not last as long if you always plan to boil water on high.
