It’s possible to mistake the hulls left behind by seed-eating birds for whole seeds. Owners have told me stories of birds starving to death “with a full foodbowl” because they forgot to change the food in the bowl. (At a bare minimum, food and water should be replenished daily.)
How often should I change budgie food?
Introduce new foods gradually over at least a week rather than slathering them all over the place in one sitting. If you want to switch your budgie’s diet from seeds to pellets, you’ll have to do so gradually.
