At the very least, once a month, you should thoroughly clean the cage. Replacing the substrate, cleaning and relocating the snake are all steps in this process. Spot cleaning the snake cage should be done in between full cleanings.

Every 1-2 months, or more frequently if necessary, replace the substrate. The majority of ball pythons are easy to handle. Once you’ve brought a new snake home, let it eat for a few days without handling it too much. Young snakes should only be handled once or twice a week at most.

Unless someone has substrate in their water, I try to keep water bowl cleaning days to around twice weekly. Spot cleaning usually results in a clean water bowl for my pets as well. I’ll replace their water if they’ve been sitting in it.
